BARE ROOT BEARDED IRIS These bare root iris plants are really good value and an excellent way to acquire a stunning collection of these spectacular plants at a reasonable cost. We are offering seven contrasting tall or intermediate bearded varieties, each beautiful in its own right. 'Bearded' refers to the presence of a furry strip on each of the three dropping petal-like sepals, called 'falls'.
Irises prefer a hot, sunny and well-drained position and should be planted with the rhizome (the brown hard part of the root) just showing above the soil. Flowering time is the end of May and into June when they make a spectacular stand of colour with their sturdy upright blooms. Irises are also excellent cut flowers, with the perfumed varieties filling the room with their delicate perfume.
