Very frost hardy, evergreen, fast growing, native conifer with long, soft grey-green needles. Flaky red-brown or orange bark in the upper crown, purple-grey at the base. Very attractive pine with foliage contrasting with the colourful bark. Tolerant of exposed, but not maritime positions. Cones are slim, green at first, ripening to brown. Any soil including poor infertile soil.
CONIFER 35ft x 15ft (11m x 4.6m) in 20 years, ultimate height 80ft (24m).
