This is a very old a much valued variety, possibly dating from Roman times. When first picked it is rich, fruity with a strong pineapple-like acidity, then as it matures this mellows to sweet, scented and full of flavour right into the New Year. Also valued as a decorative tree. Yellow apples with very attractive light-red flush. Suitable for colder areas and is more resistant to frost.
