A mid-height, easy to grow annual with well branched plants which come into flower earlier than most varieties. The attractive fern-like foliage is crowned with many large blooms of velvet red, rose-pink and pure white. An ideal border filler, or simply use in a large container or as a bedding plant. Flowers summer. Hgt. 60cm (24in).
Sowing Instructions. Sow 3mm (1/8in) deep in February/March at 21-24C (70-75F) in a good seed compost. Germination takes 5-10 days.
Seed can also be sown outdoors in May where it is to flower once the soil has warmed up.
Growing Instructions. When large enough to handle transplant the seedlings to boxes or 7.5cm (3in) pots, and grow on in cooler conditions. When about 5cm (2in) tall pinch out the growing point to make them bushy. Later, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions and plant out in late spring after all risk of frost has passed 30cm (12in) apart in full sun and well drained soil.
