Cosmos bipinnatus Versailles Tetra

Whether in the border, cottage garden or at the back/centre of a summer bedding display, Versailles Tetra will not disappoint you. The exquisite slate-pink, 10cm (4in) flowers have a deep red zone towards the centre with a bright yellow eye. They flower over a long period and may be used as bright, cut flowers for the house. An excellent variety. Flowers summer. Height 91cm (36in)

Sowing Instructions. Sow 3mm (1/8in) deep in spring at 21-24C (70-75F) in a good seed compost. Germination takes 5-10 days. Seed can also be sown outdoors in mid spring where it is to flower once the soil has warmed up.

Growing Instructions. When large enough to handle transplant the seedlings to boxes or 7.5cm (3in) pots, and grow on in cooler conditions. When about 5cm (2in) tall pinch out the growing point to make them bushy. Later, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions and plant out in late spring after all risk of frost has passed 30cm (12m) apart in full sun and well drained soil.

Flowering Period. Summer to Autumn
