T&M Seeds Annuals (Hardy P-S) :

Phacelia parryii Royal Admiral

Seldom do you find a summer flower of such vivid and startling colours. Canterbury Bell-like buds open fully to reveal blooms of rich and regal purple-blue hue, quite unique to garden annuals. This easy to grow plant will be most effective planted in clumps in the border, or perhaps grown solo in large containers, where the flowers will compel you to come closer. Flowers summer - early autumn. Height 30-45cm (12-18in).

Sowing Instructions. Sow early to late spring outdoors where they are to flower. Prepare the ground well and rake to a fine tilth before sowing. Sow 3mm (1/8in) deep in rows 30cm (12in) apart. Germination usually takes approximately 21 days.

They can also be sown under glass, pricked out carefully and planted out after all risk of frost. Germination takes 7-21 days at 15-18C (60-65F).

Growing Instructions. When large enough to handle, thin out to 15cm (6in) apart.

Aftercare Instructions. They prefer a sunny, sheltered site and a light well drained soil. Seed can also be sown in autumn for earlier flowering. Some may die off over the winter so leave the final thinning until spring.
