Potentilla atrosanguinea

From a mound of bright, attractive silver/green foliage, rises in late spring, multiple 18in stems carrying up to 1½in bold scarlet flowers. A first rate border and cut flower, much superior to P. 'Gibson's Scarlet'.

Sowing Instructions. Sow spring to mid summer in a good free draining seed compost just covering the seed with compost. Germination can take from 14-30 days at 18-20C (65-70F). Seed sown early will often produce flowers the same season.

Growing Instructions. Transplant the seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots. Move to a cold frame or plunge the pots up to their rims in a sheltered site outdoors and plant out in autumn 38cm (15in) apart in ordinary well drained garden soil in full sun.
